First Visit
| The first visit to Shoreline Orthodontics is an important experience for every patient. Every individual's orthodontic problem is unique and deserves personalized attention. Dr. Helpard and his caring staff will provide a thorough clinical examination and careful explanation of the issues of concern. You will find the first visit to be a relaxing and informal experience. Photos and radiographic images are usually taken at this visit to supplement the clinical exam. This allows us to see your teeth and jaw more clearly. If treatment is indicated, you may be given the opportunity to start the process on that day. This would include taking models of the teeth and one additional x-ray. Complete details about orthodontic treatment will be explained and you will be given ample opportunity to ask questions. Following this visit, a summary letter will be provided to you and sent to your dentist. Every patient’s overall health is an integral part to his or her dental health. Therefore, as part of the initial examination, we will also ask that a health history form be completed. This information will enable us to meet any special accommodations that our patients may require during the course of treatment. By the end of the first visit, we want every individual to feel informed about the nature of any orthodontic or dentally related problems. If treatment is not indicated but may be necessary in the future, we will place you in our recall system for a follow-up examination. All records taken while in our care are the property of Shoreline Orthodontics and must remain at the office. If any copies are needed for another doctor, a transfer fee will apply. |
