While oral development begins to slow as children enter their teens, the face and jaw continue to grow. Most teens begin full orthodontic treatment between ages 11-14, when all the adult teeth are in and growth is still active.
At Shoreline Orthodontics, we create a personalized plan using braces or clear aligners to straighten teeth, fix bite issues to prevent premature wear and tear on the teeth, and improve long-term function.
Sometimes we use small appliances like elastics, expanders, or bite correctors to guide jaw growth or help the bite fit better.

Whether your teen has been with us since childhood, or they are coming to us for the first time now that their permanent teeth have grown in, we look forward to creating a personalized treatment plan together. Our goal is to guide them towards good oral health that will last a lifetime!
For children under 12 years of age, potential orthodontic concerns can be monitored, and targeted treatments can be provided to address specific issues and minimize the need for more invasive treatments during the teenage years. However, most orthodontic treatments can truly begin only after all adult teeth have erupted.
For our teenage patients, we offer treatment with braces or Invisalign clear aligners to straighten teeth and correct bite misalignments. For more severe jaw alignment issues, we offer surgical orthodontics. We can determine the most suitable treatment option for your teen based on their orthodontic needs, personality, and lifestyle.
